A Busy End to The Year.

December was a very busy month, with Christmas wreath making taking over most days. The shed was bursting with foliage, and the air was thick with the scent of pine, eucalyptus, and berries. It was busy, hands-on work, but I loved every minute of it – there’s something so satisfying about using natural, seasonal materials and knowing each wreath will become part of someone’s Christmas.

Once the last wreath had left and the tools were packed away, it was time to slow down and enjoy a lovely Christmas. After such a busy run-up, it felt important to stop, rest, and spend time with family, soaking up the quiet moments and festive comforts. Those slower days always help me reset before the year ahead begins.

As the New Year arrived, it was back out into the garden, well wrapped up, to plant the last of the daffodil and tulip bulbs. It’s one of my favourite winter jobs – even though the beds look bare, each one is a promise of colour and joy in the months to come.

January also brings one of my favourite quieter moments – ordering seeds and planning the year ahead. There’s something exciting about seed catalogues, lists, and rough sketches of what might grow where in the dark evenings. Alongside this comes the exciting process of planning this year’s wedding flowers: thinking about colour palettes, textures, and how each couple’s vision can be brought to life through flowers grown with care.  It’s such a privilege to be part of these celebrations, growing flowers that will play a small role in such meaningful days.

With muddy boots, soil under my nails, and a notebook full of plans, the year already feels full of promise. I’m so looking forward to what this growing season will bring and to sharing more of the journey as the flowers begin to grow.
